A Day at the Races
Beautiful Santa Anita Race Track will again be the location for a Briar Bunch picnic in the infield area on Saturday, March 28. Racing begins at 12:30 after a park opening at 10:30.
Tickets are available now from Hank T so put the date on your calendar. You can also send a check to our PO Box and we’ll mail the tickets to you.
The cost of this great afternoon is only $15. Included is parking, admission, program and a great BBQ. Children 17 and under get into the park free. If you are a member of the Briar Bunch and in your first year of sobriety, you can get a ticket for only $5.
If you wish to bring something to the BBQ, please let Bruce M know so he can plan the rest of the menu.
Giving Back
The Briar Bunch in an effort to help all newcomers who suffer from our disease of addiction has purchased 4 books and 2 workbooks for the Briar Unit Library.
The books purchased were the Narcotics Anonymous Books (like the Big Book), How and Why (to help with the 12 Steps and Traditions) and the NA Workbook
(which is an aid to doing the writing of the 12 Steps of both AA and NA).
In donating these books to the Library it will help all patients who enter the Chemical Dependency Unit.
The books were received by Chemical Dependency Counselor Esby Garcia, who was most appreciative.
